Artist's Comments

So..this AMAZING artist came to teach us about drawing everyday objects. We got HUGE sheets of paper and about a bagillion sticks of charcoal, erasers, and gesso. We had to draw from a bowl little sheets of paper that had an object written on them. All the other objects were things like scissors, pizza cutters, screw drivers, etc... Well, what are the chances that I'd draw the friggin ape card. XDDD So..the still life wasn't working out all that well, so I modified him to look a little more like an actual ape than a toy ape...then i took him apart and drew his insides. XDDD This piece is approximately 4.75'X3' and I was COVERED in charcoal. I don't think it's finished yet...but I figured since I stopped working on it and the workshop is over...this is what the world will see. XDDD

The amazing artist is named Craig Hawkins. [link]

I've only been exposed to "that's what she said" a handful of times starting last band season, and I'm already sick of it.
